Is this a virtual instrument?

The focus is processing real bass in LIVE and HYBRID. The synth/neural mode expands the instrument, but it does not replace your playing.

Do I need to understand EQ and compression?

No. Start with Learn My Bass, one personality and the macros. Advanced and the graphic EQ are there for when you want fine control.

Is Pro a subscription?

No. Pro costs R$297 (Brazilian real), it is lifetime and it includes 1.x series updates.

Which systems does it run on?

Linux and Windows: VST3 and Standalone are available. macOS is on the roadmap.

  1. Download the installer SUBSTANCE-Setup.exe.
  2. Run it as a normal user and finish the installation.
  3. Open your DAW and rescan VST3.
The VST3 is installed in Program Files/Common Files/VST3. Pro users get the Windows version at no extra cost. The installer is not digitally signed yet: Windows may warn "Windows protected your PC", click "More info" and then "Run anyway".

  2. Extract it and run install.sh.
